The Beautiful Struggle

The waiting is unbearable,

The tension is palpable

And yet we are calm,

Relaxing softly in each others arms

Fingertips dance down your skin,

You “sigh” lightly as my lips brush past your ear

I whisper softly that you look beautiful,

Draped in the gentle light of the morning sun

You respond in your way,

Your snide comment is cut off by my lips kissing your neck

The unexpected

The surprise

This we did not foresee,

Yet it is just so right.

So right.

Analyst: Xbox 360 to Retail for $299, Microsoft to Lose $75 per Console

Analyst: Xbox 360 to Retail for $299, Microsoft to Lose $75 per Console – Xbox

According to analysts at UBS Securities LLC, Microsoft will pay as much as $375 per Xbox 360 to its manufacturing partners and sell the units to consumers for $299. This represents an improvement over the last generation, in which Microsoft was rumored to lose approximately $100 per Xbox sold.

That’s a hell of a loss, though I suppose if you’re Microsft it’s really not all that bad…heck it’s an improvement from the first Xbox gulp

wg:Float Minitabs

The natural follow-up to Inline Minitabs is Float Minitabs. In this article we’ll see a variation on minitabs that uses background.

I thought I’d show a little bit about how the navigation menu in the top right came about. Here is the heart of the code where all the magic happens:

<ul id="minitabs">

  <li>

     <a id="current" href="http://www.xxdesmusxx.net/ee/index.php?/weblog/"> home </a>

  </li>

  <li>

     <a href="https://xxdesmusxx.net/coppermine/"> gallery</a>

  </li>

  <li>

     <a href="https://xxdesmusxx.net/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page"> wiki</a>

  </li>

  <li>

     <a href="http://www.xxdesmusxx.net/ee/index.php?/moblog/"> moblog</a>

  </li>

  <li>

     <a href="https://xxdesmusxx.net/phpical2/"> schedule</a>

  </li>

</ul>

This is then styled with a bunch of CSS (far too much to keep this entry a decent length) to get the final product you see in the top right corner. Pretty cool huh?  cool smile

BetaNews | IE6 Gets Pseudo Tabbed Browsing

Users of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser will not have to wait until IE7 to experience tabbed browsing. MSN has shipped a new build of its MSN Search Toolbar that adds basic tabbed browsing support to IE6.

All I really have to say is…if you want tabs and for some god awful reason you’re stuck on IE try out one of the IE-based alternatives that do a much better job…(i.e. Maxathon).

Hacker Hunters

Hacker Hunters

A huge map of the U.S., spread across 12 digital screens, gave them a view of their prey, from Arizona to New Jersey. It was Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, and Operation Firewall was about to be unleashed. The target: the ShadowCrew, a gang whose members were schooled in identity theft, bank account pillage, and the fencing of ill-gotten wares on the Web, police say. For months, agents had been watching their every move through a clandestine gateway into their Web site, shadowcrew.com.

An interesting read about how they go about catch some of the most brilliant computer minds out there…

Yahoo! Mindset

A Yahoo! Research Labs demo that applies a new twist on search that uses machine learning technology to give you a choice: View Yahoo! Search results sorted according to whether they are more commercial or more informational

A rather interesting idea, though I will admit it’s less than all that useful. Try it out, play with it, break it. smile

A Foreign Land

In another world,

In another place,

Life is calm

When I see that smile upon your face.

And so the story goes,

A boy meets a girl by a matter of chance,

Soon life is blissfully chaotic and they wonder

Could this be true love’s romance?
