Review: Common – Finding Forever

Common - Finding Forever
I’ve been listening to the brand new album by Common, and I must admit I think Common’s Finding Forever is my favorite of his albums. Some of my personal favorites on the album include So Far To Go (ft D’Angelo), Misunderstood, and The People. I’d highly recommend this album for any true hip hop fan.

Review: The Children of Hùrin

Children of Hurin
The Children of Hùrin
by J.R.R. Tolkien (Author), Christopher Tolkien (Editor), Alan Lee (Illustrator)
ISBN: 0618894640
The book is also available on Amazon

The Children of Húrin is set in the same world as The Lord of the Rings and is part of a story already published 30 years ago as a chapter in the Silmarillion, Tolkien’s first posthumous book. It tells the story of Turin Turambar and his sister Niniel both cursed by Morgoth (an evil all powerful god) because their father had dared fight him. It is a tragic saga of a man pitted against fate and monsters but prey to his own self-destructive impulses. This story was edited by Christopher Tolkien, the son of J.R.R. Tolkien, and as such, the book seems to have an entirely different feeling and flow to it than does the Lord of the Rings trilogy. To be completely honest, the story is a little bit slow and, well I think, a little boring. If you’re not a die-hard Lord of the Rings/Tolkien then I would not suggest purchasing this book as you will not find it all that enjoyable.
