Real Gaming Challenge Rematch: Intel vs. AMD

When you consider all six games, the winner becomes abundantly clear. There’s not a single game where the Core 2 Duo didn’t deliver a higher average frame rate. Across all games, Intel’s new CPU delivered a 16% higher frame rate.

I think it’s safe to say that AMD is officially old news…Don’t let the door hit you on the way out you twits.  rasberry

Intel Conroe Core 2 Duo/Extreme Processors

Well it appears that all the hype about the performance of the Core 2 Duo was real. After going through far too many sites looking over the benchmarks I have concluded my next processor will definitely be the E6700 Core 2 Duo. I may post some type of shortened version of the benchmarks eventually, but right now I will just summarize by saying that Core 2 Duo (regardless of what specific chip) beats the crap out of any AMD offerring.

Explaining Bandwidth

Explaining Bandwidth

Hopefully this will clear up and make some sense of some “Buzz words” that are commonly used.

I don’t know what would he lives in, but I haven’t really heard many people throwing around

“So, I got a T1 line yesterday.”

“Oh, exactly how fast is that Bob?”

It’s an interesting read though.

USB teddy bear holds data, scares children

USB teddy bear holds data, scares children

Generally, when someone makes a teddy bear-themed gadget, his/her intention is to overwhelm bystanders with cuteness. But whoever created this little guy, whose head has to be removed in order to access the internal USB drive, must have watched one too many Tim Burton movies.

Way too funny…I need to get one of these wink

Dicota Link does PC-to-PC data transfer

The solution would be simple if you had Dicota Korea’s Link handy. This little device offers simple 480Mb/s PC-to-PC networking in a nifty little Plug & Play package.

I can’t even begin to tell you the number of times I could have used this… *grumble* shut eye

Pixels, photos and Moore – International Herald Tribune

Pixels, photos and Moore

I’m eagerly awaiting Canon’s next move, probably to 25-plus megapixels. I’m what marketing people call an early adopter, but mark my words – you’ll own a 16- or even a 25-megapixel point-and-shoot in a few years, and it will not stop there. By some estimates, your eyes have an effective resolution of more than 500 megapixels. If you can see it, why shouldn’t a camera record it?

An effective resolution of 500 megapixels for the human eye…that is just crazy.

Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP

Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP

I really like the new Logitech Quickcam Orbit MP – you can record videos and add live video effects and also use avatars. I’m going to poke around the files that they use to see if I can make my own. The camera is motorized, so it’ll do face tracking too – when I get back from Interop I’ll post up some projects with it once I take it apart…

This quite the cool webcam though $130 for a webcam is definitely a bit much.

Exclusive: Windows Vista Product Guide Preview is Available

image

The Windows Vista Product Guide provides a comprehensive overview of the innovative features and functions that make Microsoft® Windows Vistaâ„¢ the next-generation Windows client operating system and successor to Windows XP. This guide also provides information the benefits Windows Vista offers diverse users as well as information about the different editions (SKUs) available.  It’s about 300 pages, and contains a lot of really great information about Windows Vista.  Definitely a must-read!

A word or two of warning is in order.  First, the guide is pretty big (313 pages) so the filesize is almost 44MB.  Second, you’ll need to install WinFX XML Paper Specifications Document (BETA) stuff in order to render this guide. Assuming most of you don’t have the WinFX Runtime 3.0 beta 2 installed it will prompt you to download it when you try and open the document. I will see about converting it to a more common format, such as PDF, soon.

Here is the Guide (XPS Format) – Right Click and Save As

Here is the Guide (PDF Format) – Right Click and Save As

Microsoft has recently pulled the guide, but I will be providing it here to you unless I hear otherwise.
