The Week in Review: 6.9.2007

It’s been an interesting week.
I started out the week finishing up the end of my trip to Atlanta. Atlanta is great, and I really need to spend more time there. It seems like just about every time I go to see my brother down there it usually includes some kind of big project which ends up with us not having much time to just relax. This most recent trip was sort of different, but also quite similar. For example, we were moving him to a new apartment which was obviously a bit hectic. However, once we got his things packed up, moved over, and unpacked things slowed down a great deal. It worked out that the free time we had was unfortunately Sunday – Tuesday which aren’t exactly prime nights for going out. That being said we didn’t get to do all that much in terms of going out which was kind of a let down, but we’ll have to remedy that next time I go down. The area my brother moved to is great. It has all kinds of interesting restaurants, bars, and coffee shops within a few blocks which would make going out quite easy and convenient. Also, the flight home from Atlanta was a mess (as can be expected with our wonderful airlines) which is never enjoyable. It worked out though, I now have a $100 voucher for the next time I go down to Atlanta so that was nice.
Work was  ridiculously busy when I came back which is never fun. I like being busy at work, but I don’t like being overwhelmed. I am sure I forgot to do a few things before I left, but I guess we’ll see if I forgot anything major because I am sure I’ll hear about it while I am in Mexico. Pretty much just about everything that could have broke while I was in Atlanta did in fact break. It seems to be in working condition when I left on Friday so I’ll cross my fingers and hope for the best.
I found a new beer I like. It’s called St. Bernardus Abt 12. It’s Belgian, and it’s great. Kind of like Guinness, but a little bit sweeter. Oh, and a bit more alcohol…you feel one way more than other beers.
This morning was not exactly how I wanted to start my day. I woke up with the general idea that my trip to Mexico that had been planned for the past 3 months was a go. This assumption of mine was promptly corrected when a certain someone realized her passport expired. Yes, after 3 months of knowing about this trip, she just now realized her passport expired when we would have left in 2 days. Oh well. She isn’t going, and my father and I are going instead. It’ll be a fun trip, and this way we at least get to dive a bit which will be nice. However, it also means my plans of bar hopping in Cancun won’t be happening. Oh well.
After a fairly crappy day, I received some excellent news from my college. They decided to give me a pretty good chunk of money towards my tuition next year. This was incredible considering the general lack of money they had given me the prior semester. Needless to say, I am ecstatic about this. It’ll be great to actually have a little bit of money this year. Last semester I was completely broke so it’ll be a pleasant surprise when I have a little extra money. Yea for nice people who gave me money!
I leave for Mexico on Monday (for a week) so I won’t be updating this until Tuesday the 19th at the earliest. See ya then!
