Xbox 360 to get Keyboard Controller Attachment

Xbox 360 to get keyboard controller attachment

That two year old rumor that the Xbox 360 was to get a qwerty keyboard attachment has been resurrected, with the appearance of another Gamespot article (leak?) referring to a 47 key keyboard which snaps onto the Xbox 360 controller and communicates through the headset jack.

Well isn’t that an interesting rumor? Lets see what comes out of all of this though, we know how accurate rumors tend to be. Although, it is important to note that Gamespot quickly pulled this article and image…that could imply some bit of truth in this.

Update: It has been confirmed and seen in the wild already. It’ll be out this summer to go along with the new Windows Live Messenger service for the Xbox 360. Pretty cool, but the more I look at it, the more I think it’ll cause cramping in your thumbs because of how low on the controller the keyboard ends up. Oh well, I’ll have to try one to be sure.

Three Reasons Why Twitter Will Be Sold Soon

Three Reasons Why Twitter Will Be Sold Soon

  • Fact #1: According to Technology Review, Twitter had 100,000 users at the end of March. More important, the community is doubling in size every three weeks. That kind of hockey stick growth is the stuff of legends. We’re talking ICQ and YouTube territory. They’re not going to sit on the shelf for long.
  • Fact #2: Twitter doesn’t monetize its audience right now, but it’s working on it. However, there’s an important thought to consider. Many of the the most active people on Twitter are serious influencers. Further, a lot of them voluntarily receive messages via IM or, even better, on their mobile phones. That’s every marketer’s dream. If Obvious Corp, Twitter’s parent company, can come up with a way to let the community opt into relevant mobile messages, it will be a cash cow. You can get a taste of this by checking out Woot on Twitter. Some 1700 people already opt-in to receiving deal notices via these channels.
  • Fact #3: Twitter is a cheap acquisition target right now. Yes, some question its staying power, but my gut is that the site will stick. Once Obvious Corp starts to monetize the community, the cost will go up. Now is the time to get in. Wait around and the price tag will go up.

Quite an intriguing idea, and he does have some very logical points. The sheer size of growth is really what got me to say “wow” when I read this. I knew Twitter was blowing up right now, but doubling every three weeks is pretty ridiculous. I also agree with this writer, I believe that Twitter is here to stay. The “talking heads” seem to have this thing out for any new company that has a popular product. These are the same people who said Digg would flop, and I think we all know how accurate that prediction turned out to be. You already know I am on Twitter, and loving it, but I thought I’d throw out my link one more time.

Outlook 2007: Prevent Forwarding of a Message

Outlook 2007: Prevent Forwarding of a Message

Sending a message to someone and you would prefer that they not forward it to someone else? You can prevent the forwarding of your message by following these steps:

1. Open, create, and address the message as you normally would.

2. Click the Office Button.

3. Mouseover Permission and select Do Not Forward.

Note: You need to have the Windows Rights Management Client installed, if you do not, a prompt will appear. Click Yes and you can download and install the client. You will need a .NET Passport to register and download an Rights Management account certificate.

Chances are you might have wanted to do this at some point, but didn’t know how to. Well here is the explanation. This might work with Outlook 2003, but don’t quote me.

Find a Customer Service Phone Number

Advocacy for high quality customer service for consumers

The gethuman project is a consumer movement to improve the quality of phone support in the US. This free website is run by volunteers and is powered by over one million consumers who demand high quality phone support from the companies that they use.

Excellent idea, and they aren’t kidding…they have a plethora of customer service phones numbers. Bookmark it, and check it out next time you have a problem with a company that doesn’t publicly show a phone number (i.e. Paypal, Ebay, Google, etc).

4.5.07 Thoughts and What is Coming Next

It’s been a long time since I just wrote a post with no real purpose or intention so I thought I’d do just that today.

So quite a lot is going “right” for me at the moment. *Knocks on wood* It looks like I am doing pretty well in my classes this first semester back at college. That’s a nice surprise. I landed a research job that starts this upcoming Summer, and then it will turn into an independent study in the Fall 2007 semester as well. This is a good thing if nothing else than for the experience. I am going on a wonderful vacation to Mexico in June. Obviously a good thing. I have “rekindled” (for the lack of a better word) a friendship with someone I have been missing a great deal. You might see a theme, this is another good thing. My point in all of this is that I feel optimistic and I feel hopeful about the future. I don’t know the last time I was able to say that. Sure I still don’t fully understand what I want to do with my future, but I feel like I am able to deal with that battle when it comes.

I have big plans for myself this summer, besides work and research, and I just hope I can stick with these plans. I can’t possibly make it through a post without some obviously nerdy comment(s) right? Right. Well, I plan to hopefully learn a significant chunk of javascript and DOM this Summer during my free time.  The links I just mentioned point to the W3 Schools webpage which is an incredible source of knowledge for any aspiring developers/coders. I recently spent an evening hacking away at the Twitter API because they offer some truly god awful embeddable”badges”. I had to fight with the API a little bit to get it to spit out more than one Twitter at a time, long story short I got it working and it felt great to figure it out. This was also encouraging to me because I remembered a bit of the C++ programming that I had learned way back in highschool. Anyways, I digress. I hope to learn some useful things this summer that I can eventually implement on this blog.

Along these lines of learning, I also plan to make some major changes to my blog/webpage. Right now I use ExpressionEngine to power this site, and it has served me quite well for the past 4 years. That being said, I think it is time for me to move on to a different CMS. I’ve tested just about every CMS/blogging engine over the past 4 years in search of something that might be the perfect fit for me, and I think the “best of the worst” is WordPress. I specifically phrase it this way because there are definitely some things about WordPress that I do not like, but it also has some very enticing features that in the end have won me over. In conclusion, hopefully sometime around the middle of May I will start work on a new design, and then work on the transfer of all 900-something entries to WordPress. I am sure there will be some rough patches, and the typical glitches during this switch over, but I think in the end it will be for the best.

p.s. Season 3 of Lost is absolutely rocking my world… rasberry

Gamertag Jackets – A Whole New Level of Nerd

Deacon’s gamertag jacket

Lookie Look what Deacon from Unscripted 360 received from Microsoft(Being that he is an Xbox MVP). His very own Gamertag Jacket. Is it geeky? Yeah Kinda but a true xbox gamer would sport this jacket like a badge of honor

This represents a whole new level of nerd-ness. Just for the record, 1. I don’t want one of these, and 2. I’d never wear an article of clothing with my online video game name on it. Even I have my dignity…well ok, a little dignity.
