Ever since we started the Music Genome Project, our friends would ask: Can you help me discover more music that I’ll like?
Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personalDJs.
We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.
I got accepted into the testing for this and I must say this service is absolutely amazing. They are going to open this up to the public very soon and I would suggest that you try it out. Yes, it is a subscription service, but for $38 a year for unlimited use…that really is not a bad deal.
It really does work surprisingly well. I expected this to be another “the song you picked is in the hip-hop genre so here is another song in the hip-hop genre” …instead it really does find other music for you that has a similar style within a particular genre.
