GoMeme 4.0 – Help Make Blogs More Visible!

Help Make Blogs More Visible!

There are by some estimates more than a million weblogs. But most of them get no visibility in search engines. Only a few “A-List” blogs get into the top search engine results for a given topic, while the majority of blogs just don’t get noticed. The reason is that the smaller blogs don’t have enough links pointing to them. But this posting could solve that. Let’s help the smaller blogs get more visibility!

This posting is GoMeme 4.0. It is part of an experiment to see if we can create a blog posting that helps 1000’s of blogs get higher rankings in Google. So far we have tried 3 earlier variations. Our first test, GoMeme 1.0, spread to nearly 740 blogs in 2.5 days. This new version 4.0 is shorter, simpler, and fits more easily into your blog.

Why are we doing this? We want to help thousands of blogs get more visibility in Google and other search engines. How does it work? Just follow the instructions below to re-post this meme in your blog and add your URL to the end of the Path List below. As the meme spreads onwards from your blog, so will your URL. Later, when your blog is indexed by search engines, they will see the links pointing to your blog from all the downstream blogs that got this via you, which will cause them to rank your blog higher in search results. Everyone in the Path List below benefits in a similar way as this meme spreads. Try it!

Instructions: Just copy this entire post and paste it into your blog. Then add your URL to the end of the path list below, and pass it on! (Make sure you add your URLs as live links or HTML code to the Path List below.)

Path List

1. XxDesmusxX.NET

2. (your URL goes here! But first, please copy this line and move it down to the next line for the next person).

(NOTE: Be sure you paste live links for the Path List or use HTML code.)

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has finally gone RTM (release to manufacturers). This basically means it’s finally done and now they just have to start distributing it to all the right people. If you’ve heard that a program has gone “gold” it’s basically the same thing. Anyways…I was lucky enough to have this within an hour of being released cool smile  but that is no one’s concern as to how. lol. Basically this isn’t really a huge change for me since I’ve been using SP2 ever since it began beta testing…and I’ve actually tried to keep quite an archive of the beta process so I currently have:

Release Candidate 1 – Build 2110

Build 2120

Release Candidate – Build 2082

Build 2149

Build 2162

Build 2178

Build 2179

Final RTM – Build 2180 (as I correctly predicted)

Anyways…so I’ve seen the gradual course as this SP has evolved. This will officially be released to the general public around August 25th through Windows Update which I know all of you Windows users are visiting on a regular basis. Microsoft is also offering users to order a free cd with the SP on it. Order Your SP2 cd

Maybe I’ll post some screen shots of the new features tomorrow morning.  wink

Virgin: Apple’s not playing fair with iPod | CNET News.com

Virign: Apple’s not playing fair with iPod | CNET News.com

I would just like to make the point that Apple is not quite as innocent as everyone makes them out to be.

Someone’s attempt at defending Apple’s ethical business practices…

“… this is not an unfair buisness practice. Infact its quite the opposite. The companies that are complaining about what Apple is doing are the ones commiting “unfair buisness practices”. Just because apple developed a successful product and marketing scheme doesnt mean everyone else should have the right to use what they have done. Apple is in no way preventing anyone else from doing the same thing they did. Obviously its much harder to do now, but its not unfair.”

This persons well worded response sums up basically everything I would have said otherwise:

Completely wrong.

Apple has committed the following crimes in my book:

1) Misleading customers, by not advertising that A) The music they sell *only* works on their player. And B) The player they sell *only* works with music bought from their store.

2) Unfair use of monopoly status to affect a different market. They have, for some unfathomable reason, the best selling portable audio device on the market. That part is fine and dandy.

Now they enter a new market, selling music online, and actively block competitors in that new market from being compatible with the iPod.

This isn’t at all like Microsoft including Internet Explorer with Windows. This is like Microsoft BLOCKING Netscape/Mozilla/Opera/Etc. from working on Windows at all. It’s absolutley outrageous. And I hope others in this market follow suit (no pun intended).

Dunkin Donuts

So I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get my usual medium iced coffee with cream and sugar this morning and I ran into the girl I usually see at the drive up window. I don’t mean I literally hit her with my car, I just mean, she was sitting outsite smoking a cigarette on her break. I felt like killing some more time before I headed back to work after having taken my grandmother to an enthralling trip to the pediatrist.

Several things came out of this conversation. The topic of age came up. It was ironic, she thought I was a lot older than 21 (she said I looked 23ish), and I thought she was at least 20 or 21 (she was actually 18). Along this topic of conversation school came up. I said Vassar..blah blah…and I asked if she had just graduated from Webster High School (being 18 and such). She then informed me that she didn’t graduate and she was in the process of getting her GED. Note: In no way, shape, or form am I making fun of this girl. I didn’t think much of it at the time, and the conversation continued for another minute or two. Somewhere in the middle of this I picked up on some kind of slight accent which got me randomly thinking for some reason or another. It’s funny how you might see a person every single day and not notice something that would be incredibely obvious if you actually took the time to pay attention. This is the first thing that made me feel a little bad about myself. Later on throughout the day I began to realize what had caught my attention when she had mentioned that she hadn’t graduated. I applaud her blatant honesty to this apparent stranger (me) and her complete lack of fear of me placing some type of misinformed judgement about her because of this fact. What bothered me the rest of the day was the sad realization that had the tables been turned and I was in her situation and this stranger had just asked me that question I would have almost definitely lied for hopes of remaining in opinion. I don’t quite know what that says about me as a person, but it’s been bothering me all day now.

Neowin.net – Doom 3 pirated en masse prerelease

Neowin.net – Doom 3 Pirated en masse Prelease

Lol… LOL  I’ll be the first one to admit I am one of those roughly 50,000 that have downloaded it. Why? …bragging rights, to quote a fellow neowin-ian “to increase the size of my e-penis” lol. My system can’t run it…I could only wish. So it’s not like there is a chance in hell I was going to buy it anyways. Besides, I will just buy it when it comes out for Xbox…it’s going to be so much better anyways.
