Man arrested for Michael Schiavo death threat

Man arrested for Michael Schiavo death threat

Michael Schiavo relative reports threat

Schiavo told police, the car stopped and the man inside yelled “murderer,” then added, “If Terri dies, I’m coming back to shoot you and your family.”

The only thing I am going to say about this “whole thing” is that these people are funny. Think about this one, they are threatening to kill someone because they themselves don’t believe in the murder of Ms. Schiavo….this is the most ironic (and morbidly funny) thing I have read in a long time. These are like the “right to life” people who will threaten to kill you (or kill doctors) that believe otherwise…it’s so amusing because it’s just insane that these people think they are sane beings.

Let the truth be told: MGM vs Grokster – Blog Maverick

Let the truth be told: MGM vs Grokster

Electronic Frontier Foundation info on this

The short version of the lawsuit:

Twenty-eight of the world’s largest entertainment companies brought the lawsuit against the makers of the Morpheus, Grokster, and KaZaA software products, aiming to set a precedent to use against other technology companies (P2P and otherwise). As we noted in our arguments before the Ninth Circuit, the case raises a question of critical importance at the border between copyright and innovation: When should the distributor of a multi-purpose tool be held liable for the infringements that may be committed by end-users of the tool?

The short version of what Mark Cuban said:

It doesnt matter that the RIAA has been wrong about innovations and the perceived threat to their industry, EVERY SINGLE TIME. It just matters that they can spend more then everyone else on lawyers. Thats not the way it should be. So , the real reason of this blog. To let everyone know that the EFF and others came to me and asked if I would finance the legal effort against MGM. I said yes. I would provide them the money they need. So now the truth has been told. This isnt the big content companies against the technology companies. This is the big content companies, against me.

What do I think? That’s for another day and another post (really just not in the mood tonight), though I obviously do side with Cuban and the EFF.

Poynter Online – The Next Big Thing in Online Type

The Next Big Thing in Online Type

Bill Gates wants computer users, well, Microsoft users, to have a more enjoyable on-screen reading experience—so much so that he made improving reading on the screen one of his top five priorities.

Beginning in 2006, Microsoft says it will ship with its operating system and other software products six brand new typefaces created especially for extended on-screen reading.

Very cool stuff, I really like Cambria and Corbel…can’t wait for these to be released smile

The transparent desktop optical illusion

Yeah, you just take a shot of what’s behind your screen and make it your desktop background. …And yes, we tried it, and yes, it’s more difficult than it looks to get it just right, especially if you don’t have a laptop.

Very cool…I may have to try this. cool smirk

Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0 OS 5.1.1700 (build 14326.0.0.0)

ROM version: 1.50f.00WWE

ROM date: 02/24/05

Protocol version 1337.18

The ROM is extracted from the HTC PH10B Himalaya device.

A Different Spin on Tragedy

Everyone has read, or should have read, about the shooting in Minnesota yesterday. I am not going to talk about the sadness and loss, my thoughts go out to those families, but that is not what this is about.

What the hell makes your life so bad that you would do something that stupid? How is your life so much worse than mine or anyone elses? Something is very wrong with our family systems if kids can not find the means to cope with the stresses of school. Kids can be cruel, but you know what? Life is cruel. Get used to it. Kids have always had a hard time in highschool in particular. Puberty sets in (for some), and everyone starts to feel very weird about there body and about life in general. This is not an excuse for why this happens, on the contrary. This is justification for why this isn’t an excuse for things like this to happen. This has been happening since the dawn of the modern educational system. You’re not the first person to get picked on or have a hard time. So suck it up, and soon you’ll move on with life and get away from the people you dislike. This does not give you the right to kill innocent people. Yes, they are innocent regardless of whatever they have done to you, if only because they are experiencing the same puberty-induced weirdness that you are going through and may just be “dealing” with it differently.

In conclusion, suck it up and deal with it like everyone else has before you, you’re not special, you’re not getting it “extra bad”…you’re just a sad, pathetic child who can’t handle the “stress” (and trust me, you haven’t experienced anything yet, kid) of growing up.
